Butterick 6318 Pattern Review

The Floral Slay

I had no idea I would like this pattern. I passed over it many times when purchasing patterns. I was visiting my local quilt shop one day and came across this gorgeous fabric. Once I saw the fabric, I knew that pattern I kept overlooking would be perfect.

Butterick 6318

So here we have two unusual likes for me. Large print floral fabric with lots of pink and a 60s style full bottom dress. Oh, lets not forget the large waist tie. What in the world was I thinking. This is so not me…so I thought. Turns out, it is every bit of me. Cute, quaint and polished.

This dress could easily be made by a very confident beginner. I say confident beginner due to the amount of gathering in skirt and the installation of an invisible zipper.

You will see below that my cut size was a 16-18. This means I cut the bodice at a 16 and the skirt at an 18.

It will be great once church has reopened. It’s about the only place I would wear this dress. Truth be told, I made it specifically to wear to church.

  1. Pattern: Butterick 6318

  2. Pattern Size:  14-22

  3. View:  B

  4. Cut Size:  16-18

  5. Modifications: None

  6. Likes: The fit

  7. Dislikes: The Bow; however accentuates the waistline.

Conclusion: This is a nice, old school classic style dress. Great for accentuating and/or creating a waistline. I find it be very figure flattering for any size. .

Would I make this again? Sure, why not? It’s a quick make that can easily be kept very basic or kicked up a notch with the right fabric selection.
