Embroidery with Metallic Thread

I’ve always loved scarves of all types. They are fashionable, a great way to accessorize and they keep you warm. Two weeks ago, I showed you an embroidered scarf from my January Embroidery Club. I loved it so much, I decided to make another one.

I have a thing for all things black. The color just works with any and everything. Black thread is an exception, but we will save that discussion for another day. I decided to embroider another scarf using metallic thread. That’s right. Metallic thread!

Lightweight and stretch fabric can be challenging for the novice embroider. Then you throw metallic thread in the mix and oh boy. This wasn’t my first time working with metallic thread. However, I’ve heard of many having issues getting nice stitch outs. I have yet to have any issues nor did I have to take any extra steps to complete this project.

This was fairly easy. There was no special hooping techniques required. Fabric was floated on top of the stabilizer with a hint of basting spray. No pinning, no basting stitch. The design stitched out beautifully.
